Iron Dames fight at the front in FIA WEC 6 Hours of São Paulo

Michelle Gatting, Rahel Frey and Célia Martin were back in action for Round 5 of the 2025 FIA World Endurance Championship at Interlagos, the 6 Hours of São Paulo.
After advancing to Hyperbole for the first time this season to start from seventh on the LMGT3 grid, Célia Martin dropped a place in the opening lap melee, having been pushed wide on the exit of Turn 1 in São Paulo. Through the opening stint, Célia battled with the #61 Iron Lynx car but eventually came out ahead.
A long first stint enabled her to rejoin in fourth and during the second hour, she battled into the top five, defending well to keep the chasing pair of WRT cars at bay.
When Rahel Frey got behind the wheel at the end of the second hour, she retained the fifth-place spot. Having dispensed with the TF Sport car for fourth, Rahel then deftly secured third place with an excellent Full Course Yellow restart.
Once the third round of pitstops had cycled through, Rahel left the pits in fourth, before diving to the inside of the lap’s final braking zone to take second from the #78 ASP car.
With two hours and 15 minutes on the clock, Rahel handed over to Michelle Gatting who rejoined in third. Michelle gave it everything and was threatening the top spots before a penalty dropped her to sixth.
A fast final stop saw Michelle rejoin in second with the TF Sport car on her tail. She defended valiantly, fighting for the podium until the final moments of the race and eventually crossed the line in fourth.
The race marked the crew’s best performance of the 2025 WEC season to date since partnering with Porsche, and alongside a warm welcome from the Brazilian public, sets up an encouraging start to the second half of the current campaign.
Michelle, Rahel and Celia: 4th (LMGT3)
“In the end, we got P4 which is our best result in WEC in 2025. It’s bittersweet because we definitely had potential for more. Since Le Mans, we’ve definitely gained momentum and we had pace throughout the entire race but, unfortunately, we weren’t faultless. We’ll keep on working hard and keep on pushing. I’m happy with the team’s performance and we were so close to the podium. Next time, we’re going to make it.”
